Life is even better when your wife dances naked around the kitchen proclaiming that she has milky shit. I'm not sure what milky shit is but she seemed awfully proud of it. whatever it is.

I am now being yelled about posting this

Misty update

So Misty came out of surgery with flying colors and should be home tomorrow morning.

If you'd like to call her to check in she can use her mobile in her room at the hospital where she is staying tonight for observation.

The funniest part was the knock out cocktail they gave her and the speed of impact on her system. The doc said here's a shot of vodka Misty said yeah wow you definitely meant vodka and then she was casper solid gone and nighty night. She had no memory of anything else she said or did or what happened after she made the vodka comment. tee hee.

Morning - so this isn't a real post - well I guess it is real in that it exists, but it is not real in that it is not part of any sort of "journaling." I am looking to help out a friend who may be looking to move out to work in the DC area fairly shortly. They will be looking for a place along these lines:

In terms of housing in DC. I'm still thinking lower MD. Has to be on/near Metro. Dogs allowed. Minimum 2 bedrooms, prefer 3 bedrooms. Nice neighborhood, where it's safe to walk the pooch at any hour. Has to have A/C. I'd love to keep the rent around $1k/mo, but I realize that's unrealistic. It has to be under $2k or else we won't eat or have utilities, which doesn't work either. You get the idea. Thanks for asking around.

If you know of folks/companies/etc... that would be renting something along those lines please let me know.

thanks oodles!

One dog, 50 pounds. Yard is a big big plus but not a necessity, safe walking areas nearby are imperative.

I'd love to be able to walk to the Metro, but again that's a plus not a necessity. If I can drive to the nearest station in 15 minutes and park there, that's okay.

It's really a combination of price, dog-friendly factors, and how long my commute would be. So, for example, if the place doesn't have a yard (factor against) that may be outweighed if it's a short commute and a really good price.

(1) Liberal Arts at Work!

Yesterday, Misty and I were headed out to dinner to celebrate my recent liberation from campus (I had just come off being tied to campus for duty), and Misty saw a furniture store named "BiF." She commented that this was an odd name for a furniture store. Then she mentioned that she simply could not remember but wasn't Bif a character in Death of a Salesman? I mentioned that it was more likely that it was Back to the Future she was thinking of. Whereupon there was much hillarity and mocking. But since I am that kind of a geek I did a quick google check on the character names for Death of a Saleman and yea verily - Biff Loman is indeed a central character in that little bit of literature.

I am amused.

(2) pet moment

Parrot has now eaten food out of my open hand!! woot! Next we will work on itching his head in the spots that are hard for him to reach without threats of nips.

( aside ) I also need to find another set of small bead mala beads to replace the ones currently on my wrist that Parrot has rather thoroughly mauled - they are one of his favorite chew toys.

hey anyone...

younger sib and partner are expecting their first little one (currently in peanut shape on sonogram). I have been tasked with finding where I/they might lay hands on a convertible crib such as this one from
Amazon

the kicker is that it (a) must be cherry finish and (b) must have a solid head board

I have wrestled with froogle, amazon, mysimon, google, etc.... and found many many convertible cribs, but getting both cherry and solid headboard appears to be one hell of a stretch.

Can anyone (a) recommend a good search engine for this specific kind of search and/or (b) tell me of a place I might lay hands upon this crib.

Thanks y'all

update

found it and have sent a list to sib of local furniture stores that carry that which is desired

sometimes the funnies aren't about being funny, but about thinking and remembering - I like that - it's not always about being entertained or about a quick laugh - sometimes it's a thoughtful pause well rendered in a way to bring meaning to a topic being glossed over or overhyped -

:: shrug ::

but I like a good drama more than a slap stick just about any day of the week

Aquarius
1 Elements
Your true zodiac sign is Aquarius!

Aquarians are interesting and attractive people. They can be shy,
sensitive, gentle and patient or enthusiastic and lively with a
tendency to be exhibitionists. Both types are strong willed and
forceful in their own way. Very opinionated with strong convictions,
they fight for what they believe in. They will argue vehemently for
what they believe to be true.
These are farsighted people and innovative. They are generally without
prejudice and quite tolerant of the point of view of others. They have
an interesting side to their nature that allows them to see a valid
argument even when they disagree with it. They are quite objective folk
and never get waylaid by being too close to an issue or person.
Aquarius is truly a humane, human being. Known to be frank and
outspoken, Aquarius makes for a serious and genial companion. Refined
and idealistic, romantic but practical, they are personable and likable
people.
Quick in mind and quick to respond, Aquarians love activity and are
quite reasonable, though difficult to get close to. They cherish and
guard their independence, and are a strange mixture of caring concern
and cool detachment. They will go out of their way to help when needed,
but never get involved emotionally.
